Build Your Own Appointment Reminder App with Google AppSheet

In this three-part video series, I show how you can build a fully functional, customizable appointment reminder and confirmation app using Google AppSheet. If you’ve ever received helpful reminders from your doctor or hairdresser, this app lets you create that kind of system for your own business. And you can build and host it at no extra cost if you’re already using Google Workspace, since the Core version of AppSheet is included. We walk through how to create an appointment calendar, send automated email reminders 24 hours in advance, and give customers an easy way to confirm or cancel their appointments through a Google Form. Whether you’re a small business owner or exploring what’s possible with no-code tools, this series will guide you step by step.

Part 1: Building the Appointment Calendar in AppSheet

In the first video, we’ll start by creating a calendar app in AppSheet where you can add, view, and manage appointments. I show how to build the structure using a Google Sheet, then bring that data into AppSheet to customize the layout, fields, and color-coded status indicators. You’ll learn how to create virtual columns for end times and color tags based on confirmation status. By the end of part one, you’ll have a functional calendar that lets you add appointments and manually confirm or cancel them right from the app.

Part 2: Sending Automated Email Reminders

The second video focuses on automating appointment reminders. I demonstrate how to use AppSheet’s automation features to send personalized email reminders to customers 24 hours before their appointment. This includes setting up conditions so reminders only go out for unconfirmed appointments, and adding logic to avoid sending duplicate emails.

Part 3: Confirming Appointments with Google Forms

In the final video, I walk through how to use Google Forms to let your customers confirm or cancel their appointments. The form is linked directly from the email reminder and pre-filled with the appointment ID. Once the form is submitted, a new automation in AppSheet picks up the response and updates the corresponding appointment in your calendar. This makes it easy to track confirmed and canceled appointments with no manual effort required.
