In this video, I explore a new AI feature in Google AppSheet that lets you automatically categorize text entries within your app. This builds on a previous video covering the new AI features, like extracting text from images, but the focus here is on understanding the content of user-submitted text and assigning it to predefined categories.
The example I walk through involves customer support requests. When a user submits a message through a Google Form, AppSheet’s AI reviews the message to decide if it’s urgent or not. Based on that classification, the app either sends a standard email or also alerts a manager with a text message using Twilio.
Setting this up requires defining the possible categories and writing clear instructions for the AI so it knows how to make decisions. I show exactly how to do that in the video.
It’s important to note that these AI tasks are part of AppSheet’s enterprise features, so you’ll need access to that plan to build apps that use them.
