In this video, we’ll look at a simple way to create a DIY event ticketing system using Google AppSheet and QR codes. This can be really useful for smaller events like school plays, fundraisers, or work functions where you need to keep things organized and professional without dealing with complex tools or paper tickets.
The app lets you easily generate tickets that include a unique QR code. These can be emailed directly to attendees. When guests arrive, you or your team can scan their QR codes using a phone to redeem their ticket and prevent reuse. It works great for managing entry at smaller events and gives you a centralized, digital way to track ticket redemptions.
I’ve made it available as a template, so even if you’ve never used AppSheet before, you can copy it, make a few edits, and start using it right away. The video walks through how to make a copy, how QR code generation works using QuickChart.io, and how ticket validation and redemption are handled inside the app. I also show how the backend is structured with Google Sheets and how you can customize the email automation and ticket data.
