When Google Workspace Studio launched, everyone, including me, was pretty excited. It promised to bring workflow automation right into Google Workspace, potentially replacing pricey third-party tools like Zapier. For businesses and IT folks wanting to streamline and cut costs, this sounded great. But as time went on, some hiccups appeared, like missing features and integration issues. So now we’re left wondering if Workspace Studio is ready for prime time or still finding its footing.

The big draw of Google Workspace Studio is how it could keep everything under one roof, making life easier for IT by not juggling separate platforms. But the initial buzz got dampened when key features, like webhooks and third-party app connections, started vanishing. This left us a bit puzzled about what Workspace Studio can really do right now.

Even with these bumps, there’s still a lot of promise. If Google can polish this tool and beef up the UI capabilities of AppSheet, it would help Workspace get closer to standing toe-to-toe with Microsoft 365. That would give businesses a stronger, all-in-one platform for building apps and automating workflows, which is exactly what many of us are looking for in a low-code solution within Google’s ecosystem.

Do you build with Google AppSheet (or do you want to)? If so, check out Boost for AppSheet. It’s a Chrome extension that helps you build whatever you can imagine. It’s free to sign up, and free for lite use.
